Freezing Point Process Analyzer

BHB provides a wide range of physical properties anlayzers for the chemical and petrochemical industries and refineries.

For the usage of liquid hydrocarbons it is important to know its properties and characteristics at low temperatures because the fluidity of these substances greatly influences its behaviour in the pumping or filtration process. In addition, the Freezing Point is a necessary measurement value in the control and regulation of the production Process as well as it is a necessary specification to obtain permission to market the product.

For the detection of the Freezing Point of a sample, it is cooled down under specified conditions until the sample temperature is below a given limit and small crystals appear. Later on these crystals disperses over the sample making it cloudy. Interrupting this cooling process, the crystals melt, making the sample again clear and transparent. The temperature at which a cloud of paraffin crystals first appears is designated as Freezing Point.

The on-line Freezing Point Analyzer allows the simultaneous analysis of products from two sources and a validation flow, being usually provided in an integrated solution for application in the chemical and petrochemical industries and refineries.

MEASURING PRINCIPLE:

  • Turbidity.

COMMON APPLICATIONS:

  • Quality control monitoring in the production process in compliance with the specifications required for aviation turbine fuels;
  • Determination of the Cloud Point of gas and diesel oil at very low temperatures.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Robust and resistant measuring cell design;
  • Mounting template optimized, allowing easy removal of complete measuring cell;
  • Possibility of simultaneously analysing products from two sources and a validation flow;
  • Possibility of personalizing the analysis particularly the specific parameters of each product;
  • Allows the determination of the Cloud Point;
  • Integrated failure diagnosis and self-monitoring;
  • Communication: Modbus/RTU via RS485, RS422 or fiber optic cable, Modbus/TCP via fiber optic cable;
  • Remote access via modem ISDN, Ethernet via optical fibre or VPN;
  • In compliance with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials).

MEASURING RANGE:

  • Limit of range -70ºC /-80ºC (optional);

  • The lowest temperature of the Freezing Point depends on the actual Cloud Point temperature that should be above the mentioned limit.
