Laser Spectrometer (TDL)

The Tuneable Diode Laser (TDL) absorption spectrometer is a light, portable and easy to use spectrometer, specialized in the analysis in the presence of water in pipeline applications (natural gas).

Essentially used to check the measurements obtained by other methods and for localized measurements, it works with batteries and has high working autonomy.

In order to avoid the high cost of incorrect measurements (provided by local sensors that do not present the necessary performance) the Portable Laser Spectrometer presents a measurement with a minimum response time (the detector measures four times per second), without any interferences (the sensor is isolated from the gas sample) and a greatly reduced cost of usage.

MEASURING PRINCIPLE:

  • Tuneable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy.

COMMON APPLICATIONS:

  • Detection of the presence of water in natural gas.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Rapid Response Time – allows up to 4 measurements per second, automatically calculating the results. As it does not have direct contact with the gas sample, the real-time measurements are not hampered by wet-up (absorption) or dry-down (desorption) as with surface-based sensors;
  • Longevity of the system – The TDL sensors (Tunable Diode Laser) are not subjected to corrosives or contaminants because the sensor is isolated from the sample gas stream. Therefore it does not suffer from contamination or drift due to vapour impurities such as glycol, methanol, amines, hydrogen sulphide or mercaptans (vapour phase);
  • Ideal for harsh environments – can be provided in aluminium or 304 stainless steel holding several certifications;
  • Reduced Operation Costs – eliminating the cost of consumables, extra sensor heads, factory calibration, labor and overhead associated with excessive maintenance;
  • Optimized operational cycle – by drastically reducing the intangible costs, but real costs associated with unreliable gas measurements, by eliminating the additional processing steps (detecting the poor gas quality) and the possibility of damage of the equipment (that can be a result obtained from sensors producing wrong data) the laser spectrometer perpetuates the continuity of the operating cycle.

MEASURING RANGE:

  • H2O in Natural Gas: 40–422 ppmv, 40–1.055 ppmv, 0-422 ppmv e 0-1.055 ppmv.

DIMENSIONS/WEIGHT:

  • 200x175x450 mm;
  • 6,8 Kg.
